Five myths about dengue

Papaya leaves, antibiotics, "no fever means safe" — not everything you hear is true.By সম্পাদনা দল · Editorial desk — Oct 11, 2026 · 5:30 PM, 1 min read

  1. "When the fever goes, the danger is over" — no, the two days after the fever falls are the riskiest.
  2. "Antibiotics will cure it" — no, dengue is a virus; antibiotics do not work.
  3. "Papaya leaf juice is enough" — it is not proven to replace care; fluids and a doctor's watch are what matter.
  4. "It spreads from a sick person" — no, it spreads through the bite of the Aedes mosquito.
  5. "Once you have had it, you are safe" — no, another type can infect you, and a second time is riskier.

If you are unsure about something you heard, ask the care team.
