How much to drink
Adults need two and a half to three litres of fluid a day. Not only water — oral saline, coconut water, soup, fruit juice and rice water all help.
- Drink small amounts every hour
- Watch the urine — at least once every four to six hours
- After vomiting, wait a few minutes and start again with small sips
Which medicine, and which not
For fever or pain, only paracetamol, at the dose your doctor gives. Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen or other painkillers — they raise the risk of bleeding.
